BOXING TIP #8: JAB FROM THE LEVEL OF YOUR FACE
Many boxers like to hold their lead hand close to their face and then shoot the jab out. DO NOT DO THAT. Hold that lead hand in front of your face at the eye level and then shoot out the jab as fast as you can. It is harder for your opponent to see the jab coming since the distance has been cut significantly. If you hold your jab below your chin or close to your face, it will be a lot easier for your opponent to slip, parry, and/or counter over the top of the jab.
Check out this video where Hall of Famer Lennox Lewis teaches the current WBC Heavyweight Champion, Deontay Wilder, the proper way to throw a jab. Nobody else in the Heavyweight Division, other than Larry Holmes, jabbed better!
